Heritage Sock Dorset/Rambouillet 2017
Fingering/Sock Weight 2-ply
70% Dorset/Rambouillet Wool from a farm near Pigeon Lake, AB
Consistent and super fine, Heritage is perfect for lace projects or intricate colour work, and when blended with nylon, makes an outstanding sock yarn.
Like all our woolen spun yarns, Heritage is washed, carded, and spun at the Custom Woolen Mills in Carstairs, Alberta on industrial revolution era mill equipment.
Dorset wool is a natural bright, clean white colour. Dorset is quite soft and resists felting, making it appropriate for next-to-skin projects like hats, scarves, mittens, and socks. The fleeces selected for this particular yarn were chosen from Dorest sheep who had been cross bred with Rambouillet sheep (close cousins of the Merinos) for added softness, loft, and elasticity.
