Buy Nothing Day Swap

  • Alberta Yarn Project (map)

Black Friday is terrible.

Products made by people who don't make a living wage, in terrible conditions, far away from us, for a cheaply as possible, being sold to us for prices so cheap the only way the companies make money is by selling so much of it. The waste, the human suffering, not to mention the poor employees who have to clean human waste out of clothes dryers (that really happened.)

So what are we doing about it?

We want to celebrate Buy Nothing Day, the same day as Black Friday as a protest. Come and join us in the evening of the 23rd of November. We encourage you to bring a project to work on and a friend of two. Craft & chat with us.
Plus we are having a swap!
Do you have made things (shawls, hats, mitts etc) that you don't want to throw away, and need a new home? Do you have yarn you know you won't use?
Bring your Yarn & Made Things to our swap.
From 4-8 pm (with prime swap times likely between 5:30 and 7:00)
Let's share what we already have with people who value the work and beauty of the things that we make with our hands.
BYO snacks!

No money is to be exchanged. You can look at the yarn in our shop, but you'll have to buy it another day!
