Hello Yarn Lovers!
Many of you have been asking if we have any workshops and classes lined up and we have some news for you!
One of our teachers, Cathy Jackson, has started her own company with her daughter, Sarah, called Makers and Mentors. Together they are hosting a whole bunch of great classes from perfume making to weaving with lots of knitting and crochet classes in the mix too. They have dates lined up starting now through April and, let us tell you, they all look great!
We have loved working with Cathy, she’s been a long time supporter of the Alberta Yarn Project and she is a fantastic teacher. Anna sat in on her beginner knitting class this fall, and was so inspired watching her teach, encourage and support new knitters. This new company is such a wonderful opportunity for Cathy to teach all the time and we at AYP couldn’t be happier to support her. So let us say with full confidence that her classes will be well worth your time.
Part of why we are so excited to tell you about her classes is that she will be teaching some of our most popular patterns as well as learn to knit, crochet, weave and more! Get hands-on instruction and knit Nordic Slippers and the Resilience Hat, both designed by our own Kalea Turner-Beckman.
The Nordic Slipper class is a one day or evening class in which you will make a mini slipper, covering all the skills you need to be ready to knit a full sized pair. The Resilience Hat class is over 2 sessions and includes getting set up to knit in the round on the first class and the second class is all about the colour work – learning to read the chart how to knit with more than one colour of yarn!
Sprinkled liberally through the calendar of classes offered are drop in Crafternoon dates and Knitting Problem Solving workshops. Do you need just a bit of expert advice fixing a stitch hiccup? Are you stuck at a tricky part of a pattern and need help with the next step? Then these sessions are perfect for you.

P.S. The Edmonton Weavers Guild also hosts great classes. We know that many of you have asked about felting and here are two upcoming felting classes!
